French possessions in the Mediterranian are protected by a number of coast defense artillery installations. Major installations
are at Beruit, Tunis, Oran, southern Tunisia, Corsica, and the southern coast of France.
Beruit's coast artillery defenses consist of 4 305mm/45 in twin turrets, 12 240mm/50 in twin turrets, and 12 138mm/45 in single
mounts. Land defenses also include 16 75mm/50 and 10 47mm in entrenched emplacements. These weapons were taken from the
Danton class battleship Condorcet.

These batteries, each of 6 164mm guns in single turrets, protect the seaward flank of the Mareth Line, shown in red, and the
city of Gabes. The Mareth line is a fortified line consisting of entrenchments, concrete pillboxes armed with machineguns
and 47mm AT guns, and an antitank ditch.
The coast artillery defenses of Tunis consist of 8 305mm/45 in twin turrets, 24 240mm/50 in twin turrets, and 18 138mm/45
in single mounts. Land defenses also include 32 75mm/50 and 20 47mm in entrenched emplacements. These weapons were taken from
the Danton class battleships Diderot and Mirabeau.
Oran is defended by two batteries, each consisting of 4 194mm guns and 8 138mm guns.

On Corsica:
Bonifacio - 2 dual 340mm turrets, 4 dual 240mm turrets, 12 138mm in entrenched emplacements.
10 km west of Ajaccio - 2 dual 340mm turrets, 4 dual 240mm turrets, 12 138mm in entrenched emplacements.
Botticella - 2 dual 340mm turrets, 4 dual 240mm turrets, 12 138mm in entrenched emplacements.
Aleria - 2 dual 245/50mm turrets and 8 138mm in entrenched emplacements.
